About the Blog:
There are plenty of blogs out there about Kosher cooking. There are also plenty of blogs about cooking for college students. But there’s none that’s about both. In this sense, Kosher Kollege aims to fill an important void in the cooking blog world. The recipes featured on this blog range from appetizer to dessert, from Mexican to Israeli, and from basic to advanced. But what they share (aside from being delicious!) is that they are all designed to appeal to college students who keep kosher. In that vein, each post will include the following details:
- Why this recipe is good for college students
- Why this recipe is good for those who keep Kosher
- What I would do differently if I made this recipe again
My name is Robbie Shorr. I am a senior at Washington University in St. Louis, where I have a double major in chemistry and Jewish studies, as well as a minor in children’s studies. I attended elementary, middle, and high school at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland, very close to my hometown of Potomac. My main hobbies and interests are baseball, Jewish thought, food science, and working with kids. I began cooking during my junior year and have always loved the delicate balance between science and art required to make a dish successfully.
